Ilorin, Kwara State– A Fulani man from Bani community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State has threatened Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, warning him never to enter the community to confront Fulani residents.
The man, dressed in native attire and seated on a motorcycle in what appeared to be a bush location, made the threat in a viral video obtained by Afrika Eyes.
Speaking in Yoruba language, although not entirely coherent in some parts, the man repeatedly insulted Igboho and warned him against mentioning the traditional ruler of Bani in his public comments.
He described Igboho as a “bastard” and insisted that Fulani residents in Bani were not bandits but law-abiding people involved in mining activities in the area.
In the video, the man said:“Today I want to talk to Sunday Igboho and I want this video to reach him.
“Igboho, let me tell you, I swear with God, I heard that you mentioned the name of the traditional ruler of Bani. You should be very careful. The monarch is not your mate. Bani is not like Igangan. We people of Bani are not scared of you. You are a kid.
“We that you are seeing, we don’t value our lives. Who are you? Who are you? You are a bastard.
“Is it Fulani that killed your father or your mother?
“We Fulani from Bani are not bandits. Call Yoruba people in Bani and ask them whether the Fulani in Bani are bandits.
“We are looking for money. The mining you are seeing is where we are getting money from. Anyone who wants to become a bandit will not go into mining.
“If you dare touch your leg into Bani, you won’t go home safely, I swear to God.
“Who are you? You are a bastard. Bani is not like Igangan. Once you dare come to Igbeti and dare to enter Bani, you won’t go home safely.
“Are we bandits? How many bandits have they arrested in Bani?
“You are mentioning the name of the Bani monarch. Is it the monarch that killed your father or your mother?
“We will send you transport money to come over. Are you a soldier or what? We Fulani from Bani are not scared of you.
“You are killing fake Fulani. You cannot kill original Fulani.”
The video surfaced amid growing tensions surrounding renewed rhetoric by Sunday Igboho against criminal activities allegedly linked to some Fulani groups in parts of the South-West and North-Central regions.
Igboho, a prominent Yoruba self-determination activist, previously gained national attention for issuing quit notices to suspected criminal herders in parts of Oyo State, particularly in Igangan, where violent clashes had occurred in the past.
