Justice and Democracy Network Demands Action Against APC Deputy Chairman Ben Nwoye Over Alleged Forgery Scandal
The Justice and Democracy Network has written an open letter to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, demanding immediate action against the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Mr. Ben Nwoye, over allegations that he is shielding his Chief of Staff, Mr. Timothy Amah, in a case involving the forgery of party and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) documents.

In the petition signed by its President, Comrade Shehu Ahmad, the group alleged that the forged documents were designed to illegitimately present former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District and Ifeanyi Ararume as the candidate for Imo North Senatorial District, in disregard of the outcome of the party’s primaries in the state.
According to the Network, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked Mr. Timothy Amah to Mr. Nwoye’s hometown in Nkanu, Enugu State. Rather than cooperate with the investigation, the group claimed that Mr. Nwoye allegedly used the apparatus of the Enugu State Government to secure the release of Mr. Amah’s sister after she had been invited for questioning.
The organisation described this as “the conduct of a man determined to obstruct justice and protect a subordinate implicated in electoral forgery.”
The petition further recalled that Mr. Nwoye, shortly after emerging as Deputy National Chairman, publicly declared during a live appearance on Arise TV his determination to “hand over” the APC in Imo State to Rochas Okorocha. The Network said this statement amounted to an open declaration of war on the party’s rules, the verdict of the primaries, and the collective will of genuine APC members in the state.
“Mr. Ben Nwoye has become an anathema within the All Progressives Congress. He is working systematically against the party’s constitution, its regulations, and the legitimate outcome of the primaries in Imo State. His continued presence in the leadership structure while shielding a suspect in a forgery case constitutes an existential threat to the credibility of the APC,” the letter stated.
The Justice and Democracy Network outlined four non-negotiable demands:
1. That Mr. Ben Nwoye immediately stop hiding and shielding Mr. Timothy Amah.
2. That both Mr. Nwoye and Mr. Amah present themselves without delay to the relevant security agencies for full questioning and investigation into the alleged forgery of party and INEC documents.
3. That the National Working Committee institute disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Nwoye for conduct inimical to the interests of the party and for obstruction of justice.
4. That the APC publicly reaffirm that the authentic results of the Imo State primaries shall stand, and that no individual, no matter how highly placed, will be permitted to subvert them through forgery or political manipulation.
The group warned that it would not remain silent while the APC’s internal democracy is sabotaged from within, and called on the National Chairman and the National Working Committee to act with urgency and firmness.
“The eyes of APC members, the Nigerian public, and history are upon you,” the petition concluded.
Copies of the letter were sent to the APC National Working Committee, the Inspector-General of Police, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), relevant security agencies, and media houses.
