Four Dead, 13 Injured As Truck, Bus Collide On Lagos Bridge

The accident occurred around 8 am on Wednesday, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Four people have been confirmed dead and 13 others injured in a fatal road accident involving a Dongfeng truck and a Toyota Hiace bus on the Alaro City Bridge in Epe, Lagos State.

The accident occurred around 8 am on Wednesday, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

LASTMA disclosed the incident in a post on its official X account, stating that the crash was allegedly caused by excessive speeding.

“Earlier today, on Alaro City Bridge, an accident involving a Dongfeng truck and a Toyota Hiace bus occurred due to overspeeding, resulting in 13 casualties and 4 lives were lost as well,” LASTMA said.

The traffic management agency said its officers were deployed to the scene to manage the resulting traffic backlog and ensure the affected vehicles were evacuated.

According to the agency, a tow truck had also arrived at the scene to facilitate the prompt removal of the vehicles involved in the crash.

“A tow truck is already on the ground for prompt evacuation of the affected vehicles, and officers are on the ground to manage the backlog of traffic,” LASTMA added.

The incident occurred around the Alaro City axis of Epe, a rapidly developing area of Lagos State that connects communities and major developments along the Lekki-Epe corridor.

Road crashes remain a major cause of deaths and injuries in Nigeria, with excessive speed, dangerous driving, and poor road conditions frequently identified among the factors contributing to fatal accidents.

Authorities will conduct further investigations to establish the true circumstances surrounding the crash.

LASTMA urged motorists in the area to exercise caution and cooperate with traffic officials as they continue clearing the scene and restoring normal traffic flow.
