Notor!ous Bandit K!ngpin Ibrahim Bastuji N£utralized in Kogi Security Operation

Security forces have released photos of Ibrahim Bastuji, a notorious bandit kingpin, who was killed during a coordinated operation by the Nigerian Army, DSS, and NSCDC in Iluke Bunu, Kabba-Bunu LGA, Kogi State.

The operation followed a brazen attack on a local school and nearby homes. According to security reports, the bandits stormed the school, shot dead the Vice Principal, and herded students together in an attempt to march them into the forest. A rapid response by military operatives disrupted the plan before the abduction could take place.

In the ensuing gun battle, the superior firepower of the joint security team forced the criminals to retreat. Bastuji, identified as one of the masterminds behind repeated kidnappings and assaults in the area, was shot dead during the exchange.

The incident underscores two critical realities in Nigeria’s fight against banditry. First, schools and rural communities remain prime targets, making rapid response and intelligence sharing essential. Second, improved inter-agency coordination between the Army, DSS, and NSCDC is beginning to deny criminals the freedom of movement they once enjoyed.
