The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, serving in Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, has recorded a major success in its ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, Operation Zafin Wuta, with the arrest of a high-profile kidnapping suspect in Taraba State’s Wukari Local Government Area.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops captured Umar Musa Geyi on November 22, 2025, in the Jandei-Kulamu area. Geyi, who has been on security agencies’ watchlists for some time, is believed to be a key figure in a notorious kidnapping syndicate active in the Wukari region.
Initial investigations have linked him to the abduction of a Fulani resident, Alhaji Jano, who was kidnapped on November 13, 2025, in Jandei-Kulala. Geyi was reportedly intercepted by troops while he was on a phone call, during which he confirmed that the victim was alive and was demanding a ₦20 million ransom for his release.
The suspect is currently in military custody, where interrogations are ongoing to locate the hostage and secure his safe return.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their operational success and reaffirmed the Army’s determination to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace to Taraba State. He also encouraged residents to remain alert and to continue providing timely and useful information to security forces.
