“My Uncle Was on a Six-Day Water Fast When an Angel Took Him to a Forest in Kogi”: Iyke Oyekan Shares Family Revelation
Pastor Iyke Oyekan of Ingathering Global has recounted what he described as a disturbing spiritual encounter experienced by his uncle during a six-day water fast, in which an angel allegedly took him to a forest in Kogi State and showed him pictures of family members nailed to a tree. According to the preacher, his uncle was taken into a thick forest filled with large trees, where he saw a particular tree bearing several pictures, including his own and that of another uncle.

He further narrated that his uncle saw a man and a woman, who were reportedly their relatives, standing naked and shouting that one of the family members must die.
Pastor Oyekan recounted the encounter:
“My uncle was in a six days water fast. BAM! An angel came, held him and said, ‘Let me show you.’ And took him to a forest in Kogi State, thick forest with long, big trees.”
He explained that his uncle saw the pictures nailed to a tree and watched as one of the individuals repeatedly stabbed a particular picture while insisting that the person must die. According to the account, his uncle approached the scene but was told to remain calm and watch what was happening.
Drawing from the experience, Pastor Oyekan spoke about what he described as spiritual forces working against people’s lives, particularly those experiencing repeated difficulties in relationships and marriage. He challenged listeners who repeatedly experience broken relationships to pay attention to recurring patterns and strengthen themselves spiritually.
“Are you wondering why nobody is marrying you? Normally, why is it every relationship you enter, it breaks? When it happens consistently, check it. That is a force. You must become a force and get that force,” he said.
The preacher presented the account as an illustration of what he believes can happen in the spiritual realm and the need for believers to develop spiritual strength. Pastor Oyekan also referred to a teaching by Bishop Oyedepo on how believers can build spiritual weight.
Using physical fitness as an illustration, he explained that exercise and diet are necessary for gaining physical weight and strength. He then applied the same principle to spiritual development. According to him, fasting represents spiritual exercise, while the Word of God serves as spiritual nourishment.
“Exercise, spiritual exercise is fasting. Diet is the Word of God,” he explained.
He further described his personal study and prayer routine, which involved studying the Bible for one hour and praying in tongues for 30 minutes before repeating the exercise.
He said:
“Today, what I was doing is: ‘I will study one hour. I will pray in tongues 30 minutes. I will study one hour from 6 o’clock. I will pray in tongues 30 minutes. I will study one hour and pray in tongues 30 minutes.’”
He encouraged believers to develop consistent spiritual routines rather than approach prayer and Bible study casually. The preacher concluded by emphasising the importance of spiritual warfare, referencing the biblical passage in Psalm 144:1, which speaks of God teaching His hands to war and his fingers to fight. He challenged believers to become spiritually equipped through prayer, fasting and consistent study of Scripture. His message centred on the need for spiritual discipline and preparedness, particularly for people who believe they are facing persistent challenges in their lives.
The account of the encounter in Kogi State and the examples of broken relationships were presented as part of Pastor Oyekan’s teaching on spiritual battles and the importance of building spiritual strength.
