At least five prominent figures associated with the Obidient Movement have been left out of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Campaign Council unveiled ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The list, released over the weekend, features several political heavyweights tasked with coordinating the party’s campaign for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
However, the absence of some well-known supporters who played visible roles in mobilising voters for Obi during the 2023 presidential election has attracted attention.
Those missing from the published list include Aisha Yesufu, political commentator Isaac Fayose, former Obidient Movement Secretary-General Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr Mo, grassroots mobiliser Precious Oruche, also called Mama Pee, and activist Peter Akah, popularly known as Randy Peter.
Prominent Supporters Left Off the List
Aisha Yesufu, a prominent political activist and NDC member, was among the notable figures who supported Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign. Her absence has generated reactions on social media.
Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has also publicly spoken about his support for Obi and his contributions to the 2023 campaign.
Moses Paul, known as Dr Mo, gained prominence through youth mobilisation and his involvement in activities supporting Obi. Precious Oruche and Peter Akah have similarly maintained visible profiles among grassroots and online supporters of the former Anambra State governor.
Their names, however, do not appear on the campaign council list released by the party.
Campaign Council Features Party Leaders
The NDC appointed former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson as chairman of the campaign council, with Obi serving as co-chairman.
The party’s National Chairman, Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, was named vice-chairman, while Kwankwaso was appointed co-vice-chairman. Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was named Director-General of the presidential campaign.
Other prominent figures were also included in the campaign structure as the party prepares to coordinate its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The omissions have prompted discussions about the composition of the council and the representation of grassroots activists who helped build Obi’s support base in 2023.
However, their absence from the published list does not, by itself, establish that they have withdrawn their support for Obi or that a disagreement exists between them and the party leadership.
The development comes as the NDC works to organise its campaign structure and consolidate support ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.
