Amotekun Operative Beheaded While Delivering Ransom for Kidnapped Brother

…..in Oyo

A member of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, Robert Olorode, has reportedly been beheaded by suspected kidnappers while attempting to secure the release of his younger brother in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Olorode was reportedly killed on Saturday, October 24, 2026, after volunteering to deliver a ransom demanded by the abductors for the release of his younger brother, Elijah Okeleye, a farmer residing at Afija’s Compound in Ilaji-Oke, Kajola LGA.

According to reports, Okeleye was abducted on Wednesday, October 21, while returning from his farm in Saaji-daada, within the same local government area.

The kidnappers reportedly initially demanded ₦15 million for his release, but the amount was later reduced to ₦500,000.

In a desperate effort to secure his brother’s freedom, Olorode allegedly agreed to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers on October 24. However, he was reportedly killed by the abductors upon arriving at their hideout.

The tragic incident has heightened concerns over the security challenges confronting rural communities in Oyo State, particularly farmers who face the risk of abduction while travelling to and from their farmlands.

Confirming Olorode’s affiliation with the security outfit, the Bajigan of Ilaji-Oke, Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, said the deceased was a member of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun.

However, reports clarified that Olorode undertook the ransom delivery in his personal capacity as a family member seeking his younger brother’s release, rather than as part of his official duties as an Amotekun operative.

The whereabouts of the kidnapped farmer, Elijah Okeleye, were not immediately known from the information available at the time of filing this report.
