Bello Turji has, in recent years, been linked to bandit attacks, kidnappings and other violent activities across Zamfara and neighbouring areas.

Residents of Yan Buki community in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State have reportedly paid about ₦50 million to notorious bandits kingpin, Bello Turji and his gang.

The payment was reportedly made on Wednesday to secure the release of abducted residents and settle levies allegedly imposed on the community by the bandit group.

A security alert expert, Bakatsine, confirmed the development on Thursday.

According to the information available, the huge sum was paid as part of efforts by residents to secure the release of victims held by the bandits, while also meeting financial demands allegedly imposed on the community.

The development highlights the continued pressure faced by communities in parts of Zamfara State, where residents have repeatedly been confronted with kidnapping, ransom demands and other forms of criminal intimidation.
