“When the path is difficult”, Tompolo Sends Soothing Words To Wike Amid His Political Travail
Former Niger Delta militant leader and Ijaw leader, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo has sent some soothing words to the FCT minister and former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike in the face of his political row with his erstwhile political ally, governor Sim Fubara.
In a now trending statement released by Tompolo in commemoration of Nyesom Wike’s 58th birthday celebration, he extolled the former Rivers state governor, highlighting his strong leadership and resilience in the face of adversaries. He stated that Nyesom Wike has throughout his years in public service shown constituency and ability to make great impact– an act thet earned him the pseudonym, Mr. Project.
Tompolo while seemingly reacting to the political development in Rivers state which appears to have arm twisted Nyesom Wike, reminded him about his ability to remain firm and resilient in tough times.
Tompolo wrote: “You have distinguished yourself by consistency, performance and resilience, earning you the sobriquet, Mr Project.
“In moments that demand firmness, you have chosen responsibility over convenience, standing by your convictions even when the path was difficult.”
Political commentators have argued that governor Sim Fubara’s recent political manuevering which culminated in his successful switch from the crisis ridden People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as well as earning himself a notable portion in the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s good book, amounts to sinister political implication on Nyesom Wike who is determined to maintain his political supremacy over Rivers state.

Even though the vociferous FCT minister celebrated his 58th birthday, he has been unusually quiet, away from his characteristic media briefing and press releases. The FCT minister was scarcely congratulated on his 58th birthday by his political allies compared to the past seven years when his photos covered front pages of national newspapers alongside with congratulatory messages from his political allies.
Political analysts have argued that the development in Rivers state might be the beginning of Nyesom Wike’s political fall. There are speculations that he has fallen out with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is considering changing his ministerial portfolio in an imminent cabinet reshuffle. Unofficial sources insinuate that the FCT minister might be moved to the ministry of defence to serve as the minister of state for defence while the current minister of state for defence, Bello Metawalle will be relieved of his position amid terrórism sponsorship allegation against him.
