When Does God Come Down To Collect The Tithe?” – Apst Suleman Recounts How He Answered Church Member
Apostle Johnson Suleman, founder and senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries International, has recounted an unusual exchange with a church member who questioned his teaching on tithing.
Suleman shared the encounter during a recent sermon published on YouTube, explaining that the discussion occurred after he had taught members about spiritual gifts and allowed them to ask questions.
According to the pastor, one church member referred to his earlier teaching that tithes belong to God and asked, “You told us that tithe belongs to God. I said, ‘Yes.’ I want to ask you, sir, what time of the day does God come down to come and collect the tithe?”
Suleman said he responded by recalling the man’s previous experience with a health problem. He explained that the church member had suffered from asthma since childhood and had once approached him for prayers.
The pastor asked whether the man had come to him for prayers, to which he reportedly answered yes. Suleman then used the experience to explain his understanding of the role of ministers in matters involving believers and God.
He said, “In the matter of your health, you trusted me to go to God. Now in the matter of your tithe, the first message, who did you send?”
Suleman’s response reflected his position that the church and its ministers play an intermediary role in certain aspects of Christian practice, including the administration of tithes.
