What Lagos State authority discovered that made it seal Cubana chief priest Lekki restaurant
Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu widely known as Cubana Chief Priest faces a showdown with the Lagos State government over his Donald’s fast food in Lekki area of Lagos State.
In an announcement made by the Lagos State commissioner for environment and water resource, Tokunbo Wahab through his X handle, announced that Donald’s fast food owed by Cubana chiefpriest has been shutdown by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) over environment infractions.
The commissioner revealed that Cubana chiefpriest’s Donald’s fast food which also offers nightlife activities was shutdown following a tip off from the chairman of the Lekki Estate Resident Association (LERA) who alerted the the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) of unwholesome dumping of refuse along the Durosimi-Etti street in Lekki.
According to the commissioner, a Ford vehicle through which the refuse was conveyed to the spot was thereafter tracked and identified to have originated from Cubana chiefpriest’s Donald’s fast food.
Tokunbo Wahab further narrated that the suspects were arrested by the LERA security and held at the LERA secretariat. He added that the suspects in their desperation to escape facing the law for their offence, offered the LERA security a bribe of hundred thousand naira for the release; however, their offer was rejected.
The commissioner revealed that while the restaurant will remain shut for environmental infractions that the arrested suspects will be prosecuted in line with the Lagos State environmental laws.
He also commended the effort of LAWMA in enforcing the Lagos State environmental regulations which are tailored at making the Lagos community safer and friendlier. He enjoined those operating businesses in commercial areas to abide by the environmental regulations as well as imbibe proper and legal practices of waste disposal.
However, Reliant.ng recalls that Cubana chiefpriest’s Donald’s fast food in Lekki was also in September 2014 shutdown by the Lagos State authority over noise pollution and environmental infractions. Years after, the management of the restaurant faces the Lagos State authority for repeating an offence it had been corrected and punished for in the past.
This development comes in between social media outrage over recent remarks by individuals with large social media followers about Lagos State being smelly, dirty, and mosquito infested.
Recall that social media influencer and podcaster, Scott Iguma in a viral video, described Lagos State as “smelly, dirty”, and having “big big mosquitos.” He added that Lagos State is over hyped and undeserving of its high rating.
Tokunbo Wahab who also reacted to the viral video through his X handle, decried such negative narrative about Lagos State. He said such narrative by individuals who had left their home states to come to Lagos State for greener pasture, undermine the inclusive and relentless effort by the state’s leadership in repositioning the state through competent successive leaderships that have recorded huge successes which place the state as the friendliest community with inexhaustible opportunity for young people to thrive and achieve their goals.
He pointed out that individuals such as Scott Iguma who have grown cynical of the state, were nobody prior to their relocating to Lagos State. He enjoined them to desist from demarketing Lagos state by their divisiveness and unwarranted hatred for the state.
