The United States government has authorized the departure of non-emergency staff and family members of its embassy employees from Mali, citing growing security concerns in the West African nation.

According to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Bamako, remaining personnel have been strongly advised to refrain from travelling outside the capital due to escalating risks.

The advisory comes amid severe fuel shortages across Mali, which have disrupted transportation, power supply, and essential services. The U.S. has maintained its Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for Mali, warning American citizens to avoid all travel to the country over threats of terrorism, crime, and civil unrest.
