Nollywood actress Yetunde Bakare has continued to address the controversy surrounding a leaked audio recording involving her colleague, Toyin Abraham.
The controversy began after a 12-minute audio recording allegedly featuring Abraham surfaced online. In the recording, the actress was reportedly heard expressing frustration over the insults and criticism she had been receiving, while also discussing her relationships with some of her colleagues.
The conversation, which was largely conducted in Yoruba and Pidgin English, also featured Abraham’s fan allegedly insulting fellow actress Funke Akindele. Abraham was reportedly heard laughing during the exchange without telling the fan to stop.
The recording also touched on previous insults directed at Iyabo Ojo. During the conversation, Bisgold reportedly said Abraham had been unable to move past the incident, with the actress agreeing and laughing in response.
Following the audio leak, Yetunde Bakare commented on a social media post by Regina Chukwu discussing people who secretly record private conversations.
However, her comment attracted criticism from some social media users, prompting her to respond to those attacking her.
Defending herself, Bakare questioned whether supporting someone openly had suddenly become an offence. She described the behaviour of her critics as a high level of stupidity and suggested that some of them needed special evaluation.
The actress later took to social media to share a video explaining her position and clarifying her involvement in the controversy.
According to Bakare, she was unaware of the leaked audio when she commented on Regina Chukwu’s post. She explained that her reaction was not intended to address the recording, as she had not known about it at the time.
Bakare also claimed that Toyin Abraham’s fans frequently attack her whenever she comments on Funke Akindele’s social media posts.
She explained that the repeated attacks had made her feel targeted, contributing to the misunderstanding surrounding her comment on Regina Chukwu’s page.
Her clarification comes amid the ongoing reactions to the leaked recording, which has continued to generate discussions about celebrity relationships, private conversations and the tensions that sometimes emerge among Nollywood stars.
