TOLUWANISINGS’ D£ATH: UCH DENIES RECORD OF SINGER BEING BROUGHT TO HOSPITAL
TOLUWANISINGS’ DEATH: UCH DENIES RECORD OF SINGER BEING BROUGHT TO HOSPITAL
The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has stated that it has no official record showing that gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, was brought to the hospital before his death.

The hospital’s clarification comes amid allegations that the singer encountered difficulties accessing emergency medical care after collapsing.
According to his personal assistant, Babadunni Olayemi, the singer was taken to approximately seven or eight hospitals in search of treatment. He claimed that some facilities cited an ongoing doctors’ strike, while others allegedly declined to admit him.
However, UCH spokesperson Funmilayo Enitan said hospital services had resumed following the suspension of a strike by local resident doctors. She added that the hospital’s management had not received any official report indicating that Toluwanisings was brought to the facility.
The hospital’s statement does not independently establish what happened during the singer’s reported search for medical assistance, nor does the aide’s account confirm that UCH turned him away.
Meanwhile, officials of the Nigerian Medical Association, speaking to PUNCH about emergency medical services, stressed the need for improved coordination among hospitals and effective referral arrangements to ensure that patients are directed to suitable facilities when immediate treatment cannot be provided.
For now, key details surrounding the singer’s final hours remain unclear, including which hospitals he visited and the circumstances that led to his death.
