“The government is in it” – Popular Prophet alleges insiders are behind worsening killings across Nigeria

Prophet Isa El Buba has raised fresh alarm over the worsening killings across Nigeria, alleging that more than 200 people have been killed and massacred within the past few days.

El Buba made the claims during an interview granted to the MI Podcast news anchor, where he spoke extensively about the worsening insecurity, the killings in Plateau, Zamfara and Katsina, alleged government complicity and the people he believes are behind the violence.

According to him, more than 30 people have been killed in Mangu alone, while across some local government areas of Plateau State, more than 50 people had reportedly been killed as of about a week earlier.

He also pointed to deaths in Zamfara, Katsina and other communities, insisting that the situation is getting worse rather than getting better.

“Why do you think it’s getting worse? Because the government is in it,” El Buba said.

He argued that there is nothing that goes on in any nation that the government does not have the power to stop, insisting that when people within the system who are allegedly involved are not uprooted, the killings will continue.

“The saboteurs are not the criminals that are in the bush, are not the terrorists that are right there in the forest. It is the ones that are in the government, and the ones who are networking with the criminals out there to cause this constant killing and bloodshed,” he alleged.

Asked whether he was accusing the government of being complicit in the killings of innocent Nigerians, El Buba said he had made the position known repeatedly.

He recalled confronting former President Muhammadu Buhari when Nigeria was, according to him, under siege.

El Buba said he flew from Miami to Nigeria and confronted Buhari, explaining that Buhari had the right to speak to people who, according to his allegation, had been brought into Nigeria.

He alleged that killers were brought into the country for the 2015 elections.

When challenged over the seriousness of the allegation and asked for evidence, El Buba referred to statements attributed to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and others, saying the information was available on the internet.

He also referred to a statement attributed to El-Rufai concerning the 2015 election, including the warning that if Jonathan did not hand over power, there would be no peace and there would be bloodshed.

El Buba alleged that after the people he claimed were brought into Nigeria helped those involved to gain power, they were disappointed because the agreement made with them was not fulfilled.

According to him, the people involved are known to those in government, including their locations and alleged sponsors.

He also made allegations concerning Senator Buba of Bauchi State, claiming that he had previously spoken about the senator allegedly housing and sponsoring terrorists before similar allegations surfaced online.

When asked to support the claim with evidence, El Buba said pictures and videos were available online and urged people to search for them.

The interviewer pointed out that accusing a lawmaker of sponsoring terrorism was a grave allegation, particularly because the senator had denied responsibility.

El Buba maintained that the alleged presence of terrorists in the senator’s house was evidence.

He said Nigeria cannot continue to deny the truth or avoid holding people responsible for the killings.

“This country is sinking because we don’t hold people to responsibility,” he said.

El Buba also recalled that when he spoke against the killings during Buhari’s administration, the DSS was sent to arrest him and his entire complex was allegedly besieged.

He said all he had asked the former president to do was to stop the killing.

On the allegation that he was attacking an ethnic group, El Buba rejected the claim, explaining that his grandmother was a Fulani woman.

He said he could not accuse his own blood but maintained that, in his view, about 80 per cent of the banditry, killings and terrorism currently happening in Nigeria are being sponsored and carried out by what he described as Fulani militia.

“You can’t deny it,” he said.

When asked about evidence, El Buba maintained that the evidence was available and pointed to the identities of terrorist leaders and the people he described as Kachallas in places including Niger and Katsina.

He said the leaders of the people he was referring to should come out and confront their own people.

El Buba also spoke about his upbringing, saying his father taught him to speak the truth even at the point of death.

He said being a northerner does not mean a person should shy away from the truth, giving the example that if a parent catches his son or daughter stealing, the child should be taken to the police.

He also referred to the Kanuri people and Boko Haram, saying that when Boko Haram started, the majority of its members and terrorists were from Borno State and the Kanuri ethnic group, and that the people did not deny it.

According to him, speaking the truth and confronting wrongdoing is the only way to deal with the problem and bring redemption.

Asked whether Plateau State is under siege, El Buba answered: “Absolutely under siege.”

He further described the situation as a deliberate attempt to take over Plateau State.

According to him, the government knows the location of the territory
