Troops have rescued Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, after their kidnappers abandoned them during a gun battle in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) responded to a report that the couple had been abducted in Ateli village. At about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, personnel deployed at Mayir Garrison joined local vigilantes in pursuing the kidnappers.

The troops later encountered the group, and a gun battle followed. Makama reported that the kidnappers fled into the surrounding area, leaving the couple behind. The troops then rescued them.

Isah was injured during the incident and taken to General Hospital, Wamba, for medical care. Security forces are continuing their search for the kidnappers, while troops remain in the area to prevent further attacks.
