Ruth Kadiri Raises Alarm Over Counterfeit Products in Nigeria
Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has raised concerns over the safety of products being sold in Nigeria, warning that counterfeit and contaminated food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics and household items could pose serious risks to human lives.

In a recent video shared on her Instagram page, Kadiri called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to intensify efforts to curb the circulation of fake and potentially harmful products across the country.
The actress expressed concern over the widespread availability of counterfeit products, noting that their regular consumption and use could expose millions of Nigerians to serious health risks.
She urged relevant authorities to strengthen monitoring and enforcement measures to protect consumers from products that could endanger their health and lives.
“Dear Nigerians, I’m speaking to you today with a heavy heart and deep concern about the circulation of fake products in our country. Every day, people buy food, drinks, medicine, cosmetics, and household products believing that they are safe, but sadly, some are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful and mostly fake. This is not just a business problem; it’s a threat to human life. Imagine little children battling kidney failure,” she stated.
Kadiri also urged NAFDAC to pay close attention to good in circulation in the country, stressing that the health and lives of Nigerian are at stake.
“I bought garlic, blended it, and went downstairs to get something, only for me to return and see the garlic colour has changed. A whole lot of other people with their experiences, I’m literally afraid of buying already packed drinks for my kids because I am scared of what the outcome of that drink will be. NAFDAC, please pay attention to the lives of Nigerians. Lots and lots of people are sick and are not getting better,” she added.
