Russian authorities have detained a teenager suspected of planning a terrorist attack at a popular park in Moscow following a warning from the United States.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the arrest on Sunday, November 1, after receiving information from US authorities about preparations for an attack at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in southern Moscow.
According to Russia’s Interfax news agency, the FSB said the suspect, a Russian citizen whose identity was not disclosed, had posted photographs on TikTok showing himself wearing tactical clothing and a balaclava while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon.
The teenager also reportedly shared photographs taken at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve with the caption, “I found a place.”
The FSB said a search of the suspect’s home uncovered clothing and accessories matching those in the photographs. Investigators also reportedly found searches relating to terrorist attacks, mass killings and other violent activities on his phone, alongside a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on Telegram.
“We are grateful to the American side for providing the information,” the security service said, according to Interfax.
The arrest followed a security warning issued by the US Embassy in Moscow on Saturday, which said it was aware of a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the museum reserve.
The embassy urged American citizens to avoid the area, remain alert and stay away from crowds, adding that the US government was coordinating with Russian authorities on a response.
The museum and park complex was temporarily closed following the warning.
Russia’s Investigative Committee is considering the legal and procedural steps to take against the teenager, the FSB said.
The latest incident comes more than two years after the United States warned Russia of a possible extremist attack in Moscow in March 2024, weeks before gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue, killing more than 140 people.
