In a major bid to tackle youth unemployment and accelerate nationwide electricity access, the Federal Government has unveiled a massive empowerment initiative targeting 4,000 young Nigerians.
The program will see the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) provide intensive technical training, while the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) handles official certification.
The initiative aims to build a robust pool of qualified installers to lead the large-scale deployment of prepaid meters across the country, fundamentally transforming Nigeria’s power sector distribution network.
To ensure widespread participation, the selection criteria have been made highly accessible. Eligible applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged between 18 and 35, holding a minimum of a Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) qualification.
The initiative welcomes applications from all genders, though candidates must be free from physical disabilities to safely manage the rigorous field operations.
The program offers a highly lucrative package for successful candidates. Trainees will receive a generous monthly allowance of N100,000 throughout the training period. Beyond acquiring cutting-edge technical skills and earning a prestigious professional certification, participants are guaranteed automatic employment upon successful completion of the course.
