The police chief reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for all forms of criminality.

The police command in Kano has apprehended two suspects for allegedly threatening to kidnap the Village Head of Bangare in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, on Wednesday in Kano.

He said the incident was reported on October 26 at about 1:30 p.m. at the Gezawa Divisional Police Headquarters by the village head, Mallam Idris.

“On Oct. 24, at about 9:33 p.m., he received a threatening phone call from an unknown person threatening to kidnap him,” the PPRO quoted Idris as saying.

Upon receipt of the report, the command’s spokesperson said operatives attached to the Gezawa Division swiftly swung into action.

According to him, sustained follow-up, coupled with intelligence-led operations, led to the arrest of Aliyu Naziru Garba and Bashir Alhasan, both aged 20.

He said the suspects had confessed to the crime, adding that the investigation was ongoing, after which they would be charged to court.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, who directed the operation, commended the officers for their swift and professional response.

He reaffirmed the command’s zero tolerance for all forms of criminality.

The CP further said the achievement was in tandem with the policing vision and directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, which focus on intelligence-led, technology-driven policing, professionalism and proactive crime prevention.

The PPRO called on the public to remain security-conscious and report any suspicious person or movement to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency lines: 08032419754, 08123821575 and 09029292926.
