Police Arrest Man Who Claimed to Be ‘Obi of Lagos’

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 65-year-old Chibuike Azubike, who allegedly paraded himself as the “Obi of Lagos”.

He was arrested alongside three others — Chief Chibuzor Ani, Chief Martins Nwaodika, and Mr. Ikechukwu Franklin Nnadi — for attempting to hold an illegal installation ceremony in Amuwo Odofin, where they planned to unveil a prototype of a ₦1.5 billion “Palace of Obi of Lagos State.”

Police stormed the venue, sealed it off, and described the act as misleading and capable of disturbing public peace. The suspects will be charged to court after investigation.

Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh has warned Lagos residents to beware of impostors trying to exploit culture and traditions for personal gain.
