police activate full school protection as threats rise

Katsina State Police Command has ordered a full rollout of its School Protection Squad across the state as security concerns around schools continue to grow.

This was in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

The directive came from the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, after a meeting with tactical commanders.

It follows the nationwide instruction from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to boost security around learning centres.

The police said the new push includes sending more personnel to high-risk areas, increasing patrols around schools, and improving intelligence-sharing among security units.

CP Bello Shehu said the move is aimed at preventing attacks and ensuring pupils remain safe.

“We are committed to ensuring that every school in Katsina is protected. Security is a collective responsibility, and we urge the public to continue supporting our efforts,” he said.
