Oyo Police Recover Stolen Car, Arrest Three Suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a stolen Hyundai Sonata car and arrested three suspected members of a car theft syndicate operating across state lines.

The vehicle, a white Hyundai Sonata with registration number ABC 882 GK, was reportedly stolen from Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos, on September 13, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.

The matter was reported to the Oyo State Police Command on September 16 after the vehicle was sighted around the Ojoo area of Ibadan.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to trace and recover the vehicle.

Using intelligence-led policing and technology, operatives traced the car to the Akinyele area of Ibadan, where it was recovered.

Three suspects identified as 49-year-old Abdulramon Hassan, 43-year-old Abdullahi Sani and 53-year-old Sulaimon Adamu were arrested in connection with the theft.

The police say the suspects confessed during preliminary investigation and are cooperating with investigators to uncover other members of the syndicate.

The Command says efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects, while those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police has also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
