Ondo Helicopter Crash: Banji Alabi Mourns Young Pilot, Demands Posthumous National Honour
A GALLANT HERO TILL THE END: BANJI ALABI ESQ. MOURNS YOUNG PILOT, URGES FG TO CONFER POSTHUMOUS HONOUR

With a heavy heart, I mourn the young pilot and crew of the ill-fated helicopter that crashed few days ago in Ondo State.
It is even more heartbreaking to learn that the pilot got married just two weeks ago. A young life full of dreams, cut short in the line of duty. So sad. 😭
But in his final moments, he showed us what true heroism means. When many would have panicked, he chose courage over self. Reports confirm he deliberately steered the troubled aircraft away from crowded areas to avoid collateral damage and save civilian lives. He paid the ultimate price so that many families could live.
He did not die as a victim of a crash. He died as a hero who gave his life to protect others. That is not just professionalism, that is patriotism in its purest form.
IN VIEW OF THIS UNCOMMON GALLANTRY, I URGE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:
On behalf of the Ondo State Eminent Persons Group (OSEG) and as a civil liberty advocate, I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government of Nigeria to:
1. Confer befitting posthumous national honours on the pilot and his crew members for this supreme sacrifice.
2. Immortalize their names for generations to come.
3. Provide immediate and adequate welfare support for their families, especially the young widow who has been thrown into mourning just weeks after her wedding.
4. Order a thorough and transparent investigation into the crash to prevent future tragedies.
When a man gives his life so that others may live, a grateful nation must give him honour so that his sacrifice will never be in vain.
Life is a privilege that can be withdrawn at any time. While it lasts, let us do good, drop petty jealousy and hatred, and leave the world better than we met it.
Fly higher, gallant officer. You earned your wings twice.
Rest in perfect peace.
Signed:
Banji Alabi Esq.
