Nigerians donate N13m to Ikechukwu Nweke, actor battling cancer

Destiny Etiko, the Nigerian actress, on Sunday, announced that public donations for Ikechukwu Nweke have reached N13 million, as the actor continues his battle with cancer.

In an Instagram post, Etiko expressed her gratitude to contributors, stating that the overwhelming support had given Nweke renewed hope.

“13 million realised so far for Ike’s treatment. Thank you so much Nigerians. This is really overwhelming for us,” she wrote.

“God will replenish each and every one of us contributing and reposting. @ikechukwunwekeofficial is so grateful and having stronger hope of surviving this illness.

Etiko also appealed to those who have not yet donated to join the campaign.

“We are almost there. For those who haven’t contributed, let’s help save a soul,” she added.

The fundraising drive was launched by Etiko days earlier after Nweke publicly disclosed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025.

The actor revealed that he had exhausted his personal savings, spending over N15 million on surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy with support from family, friends, and colleagues, but still required further financial assistance for the next phase of his treatment.

Colon cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the colon, the longest segment of the large intestine.

Nweke’s appeal also comes just days after upcoming actress Cynthia Anijekwu received over N13 million in donations following her public plea for financial support for her cancer treatment.

Anijekwu revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent treatment, but the disease later returned and spread to her breast and bones.
