Nigerian Governor Picks Senate Nomination Form at First APM NEC Meeting
Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has attended the first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Allied People’s Movement following his defection to the party.
According to a media post by Honourable Lawal Muazu Bauchi, the Governor’s New Media Aide, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the session was presided over by the National Chairman of the party, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and had in attendance key stakeholders and members of the party leadership
The meeting focused on important national and party matters while also giving Governor Mohammed the opportunity to formally familiarize himself with members of the party’s leadership structure.
Speaking during the session, Governor Mohammed stated that the current political atmosphere in the country has become increasingly difficult due to undemocratic practices and political intimidation, stressing that many progressive leaders and movements now face serious challenges in participating freely in the democratic process.
He explained that after extensive consultations with political allies, stakeholders, and supporters across Nigeria, the APM emerged as the political platform that best reflects their collective aspirations and vision for the country.
Governor Mohammed noted that the party shares core values with his political ideology, especially in the areas of good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness, and respect for the rule of law
He added that their movement into the APM was based on conviction and the desire to strengthen democratic culture in Nigeria.
The governor further disclosed that several political office holders and stakeholders who previously operated under the PDP structure in Bauchi State have now aligned with the APM.
