‘Nigeria Is Bleeding Yoruba Union Calls on Nigerians to Vote Tinubu Out in 2027
A Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá (Yoruba Union), has urged Nigerians to vote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu out of office in the 2027 general election, accusing his administration of failing to tackle insecurity, economic hardship and the rising cost of living.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Olusola Badero, and released through its Home Director, Princess Balogun, the group claimed that Nigeria is “bleeding” under the current administration and alleged that millions of Nigerians are suffering while the government continues to insist its policies are working.
The organisation alleged that worsening insecurity has left many communities vulnerable to attacks and kidnappings, while the high cost of living has pushed many citizens into severe hardship.
The group also referenced recent comments by John Onaiyekan, who said Catholic bishops informed the President that many Nigerians were struggling under the current economic conditions.
According to the Yoruba Union, the administration has failed to adequately address the concerns raised by religious leaders and ordinary Nigerians.
The group further alleged that many Nigerians in the diaspora who returned home to invest have faced multiple taxation, intimidation and destruction of their businesses instead of receiving government support.
It also accused security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, of being used to suppress dissent instead of focusing on protecting citizens.
The organisation concluded by urging Nigerians to unite behind credible leaders in the 2027 election, saying the country needs accountable leadership to restore economic stability, improve security and rebuild public confidence.
