Monarch Cancels 2026 Ojude-Oba Festival

The 2026 Ojude-Oba Festival in Epe has been cancelled by Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo following the dêath of Oba Adeshina Adebowale. The palace said the decision was made to honour the late traditional ruler and preserve the solemn mood across the kingdom. 🕊️

The popular cultural celebration, known for colourful displays and attracting visitors from across Nigeria and abroad, was expected to hold during the Eid-el-Kabir season. However, the palace explained that continuing with the carnival would conflict with ongoing funeral preparations and traditional mourning activities. 🎶

Residents and visitors were encouraged to celebrate Eid peacefully within their communities while paying respect to the late monarch. The palace described the late Omola as a peaceful and respected custodian of Yoruba culture whose legacy would not be forgotten. 👑
