Kwara Teacher Remains In Captivity After Family Pays N12Million Ransom, Bandits Demand N5Million More
Ndakpada, a resident of Lata-Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, has remained in the custody of his abductors since July 30, 2026, according to his family.
Bandits who kidnapped a farmer and teacher with the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada, have demanded an additional N5 million ransom after his family paid N12 million and supplied food, drinks and other items to secure his release.
Ndakpada, a resident of Lata-Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, has remained in the custody of his abductors since July 30, 2026, according to his family.
The family told SaharaReporters that they had already paid N12 million to the bandits following negotiations over his release.
However, despite the payment and provision of other requested items, the abductors have allegedly refused to release the teacher and have now demanded another N5 million from the family.
A family member, who appealed for government intervention, said the prolonged captivity had left the family deeply worried and financially distressed.
“My uncle that bandits kidnapped since last month is still with them after the family paid the ransom of N12 million with some items. Now they are requesting an additional N5 million. Please help us plead with the government for us,” the family source said.

The family identified the victim as Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada and said he was abducted on July 30.
According to the family, Ndakpada is both a farmer and a teacher with SUBEB, and his continued detention has caused serious concern among his relatives and members of his community.
The family appealed to the Kwara State Government and the Federal Government to urgently intervene and take all necessary steps to secure Ndakpada’s safe release from the bandits.
They also called on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the kidnappers and rescue the teacher without further delay.
The family expressed concern that paying the N12 million ransom and providing food, drinks and other items had not resulted in Ndakpada’s release, while the fresh N5 million demand has placed additional pressure on the relatives.
The family urged the authorities to treat the matter as an emergency, stressing that Ndakpada has already spent weeks in captivity and remains at risk while in the hands of the armed kidnappers.
