Kidnap Victim Escapes Captivity, Leads Troops to Abductors’ Hideout in Kogi, Recovers AK-47 After Suspects Flee
Troops of the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, have rescued a 28-year-old kidnap victim and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a counter-kidnapping operation in Kogi State.

The operation was conducted by troops operating from Patrol Base Obajana, who encountered the victim after he escaped from his abductors. During preliminary debriefing, the victim disclosed that he was abducted from the Abaji general area of the Federal Capital Territory about five weeks ago and had been held captive at a location within the area.
Acting on information provided by the victim, the troops immediately advanced to the identified location. However, the suspected kidnappers fled into the surrounding terrain after sighting the soldiers.
During an exploitation of the area, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
The rescued victim was evacuated to the troops’ medical facility, where he is currently receiving appropriate medical attention.
The Nigerian Army said the operation demonstrates its continued commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through proactive and intelligence-driven operations.
Troops are currently exploiting the success of the operation to track the fleeing suspects and dismantle their criminal network.
The Army also reaffirmed its resolve to protect lives and property and sustain operations, in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders, to secure communities and restore lasting peace and security.
