JUST IN: When We Protested
Aga!nst Jonathan Increased On Fuel Price He Withdrew That Increased—Buba Galadima

According to a report by Symfoni TV, on Friday, November 21, 2025, former President Goodluck Jonathan has been celebrated as the greatest democrat of our time by New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima, who praised the former leader’s commitment to peace and his responsiveness to the Nigerian electorate.

Speaking on the occasion of Jonathan’s birthday, Mr. Galadima focused on the former president’s defining moment of voluntarily relinquishing power after the 2015 general elections.

“As we all know, Goodluck Jonathan is a man of peace,” Galadima stated. “He is the greatest democrat of our time because in contemporary history there was no African leader that voluntarily relinquished power and accepted the verdict of the people.”

Jonathan’s concession to the opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, made him the first incumbent Nigerian president to peacefully transfer power after a loss, a landmark event that significantly strengthened Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Galadima also recalled an earlier example of Jonathan’s democratic disposition: his decision to reverse a major policy change following nationwide protests.

“He’s a man of peace in the sense that Jonathan went President had been a listening president first,” Galadima continued.

“You know when we demonstrated against him when he increased fuel price in his own magnanimity as a democrat. He listened to the voices of the electorates and withdrew that increase.”
