I’m healthy, ready to go, Tinubu dismisses health rumours

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed concerns about his health, saying he is “healthy, sound, and ready to go” after returning to Nigeria from his extended working vacation in Europe.

Tinubu spoke with journalists on Tuesday after arriving in Lagos following his stay in France, where he had spent the latter part of his vacation.

Asked about concerns raised by some Nigerians and his supporters towards the end of his vacation about his health, Tinubu said there was nothing wrong with him.

“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong.

“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” the President said.

Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week working vacation in Europe, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris, France.

The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay, saying he remained in touch with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of the country while away.

His return came after weeks of public discussion over his extended absence, including political disagreements over the duration of his stay abroad.

The African Action Congress had also sued Tinubu and the National Assembly over his vacation, alleging that he failed to notify the National Assembly before leaving the country.

Tinubu is expected to resume official activities in Nigeria ahead of the October 1 Independence anniversary.
