I’ll Visit All 36 States Every Year, Spend Holidays Across Six Geopolitical Zones If Elected President –Peter Obi

The former Anambra State governor said he would ensure Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones felt included in the country’s governance, regardless of ethnic or regional background.

Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he would hold monthly town hall meetings with Nigerians and visit every state in the country annually if elected president.

Obi made the pledge on Sunday during a TikTok livestream monitored by SaharaReporters, where he discussed national unity, regional development and his proposed approach to engaging citizens as president.

The former Anambra State governor said he would ensure Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones felt included in the country’s governance, regardless of ethnic or regional background.

“I want to see a thriving South-West, South-South, South-East, North-East, North-West, North-Central, everyone in Nigeria,” he said.

Obi argued that those seeking to divide Nigerians were working against the country’s progress, stressing the need for balanced development across all regions.

He said his proposed administration would prioritise direct engagement with citizens to address concerns about marginalisation and ensure that people from different parts of the country felt represented.

“That’s why I said that I will be president of Nigeria. I will ensure that I visit every state annually,” Obi said.

He also pledged to spend his holidays in different states across the six geopolitical zones, saying he would make himself accessible to Nigerians rather than govern from a distance.

Obi said the proposed town hall meetings would give citizens opportunities to understand government decisions, policies, and ongoing projects.

“I will be available to them as their president. I will explain to them, because I’m sure I’ll be able to do monthly, bi-monthly town hall meetings to explain what we are doing, to explain why we must do A or B, as I did while I was governor,” he said.

The former governor cited his experience in Anambra State as a basis for his proposed approach to public engagement.

His comments come amid recurring national debates over regional inequality, political representation and citizens’ access to elected officials.

Obi was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
