I Wouldn’t Say I Was Careless But Let Everything Go; This Time, I’m Not Letting Anything Go-Fubara

Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his administration will no longer overlook actions capable of undermining governance, warning that he is now paying close attention to every development within his government.

The governor made the statement during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), an event aired on SYMFONI TV. The ceremony, held in Rivers State, marked another step in the reorganisation of the state’s executive structure amid ongoing political tensions.

Addressing the newly appointed officials and other members of his cabinet, Fubara reflected on his past leadership approach, suggesting that he had previously exercised restraint. “I wouldn’t say I was careless but let everything go. This time, I’m not letting anything go. I’m watching everyone,” he said.

The pointed remark signaled a shift in tone from the governor, who indicated that he would no longer tolerate actions he perceives as disloyal or disruptive to his administration’s agenda. He stressed the need for discipline, unity, and absolute commitment to the objectives of his government.

Fubara urged the appointees to see their appointments as a call to service and to align fully with his vision for Rivers State. According to him, the state’s progress depends on transparency, cooperation, and a shared sense of responsibility among public office holders.

Political observers interpret the governor’s comments as a strong message to both allies and opponents within the political space that he intends to assert firmer control over his administration. By openly stating that he is “watching everyone,” Fubara underscored his resolve to ensure accountability at all levels of government.
