Governorship Candidate Suspends Campaign Activities Over Deadly Attack
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Taraba State, Danjuma Usman Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, has suspended all campaign activities from October 24 to 26, 2026, following a deadly bandit attack on Binnari community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state.

The suspension is intended to allow the candidate and his supporters to mourn with the affected community, offer prayers for the victims and express solidarity with families who lost loved ones in the attack.
Shiddi directed his supporters to observe the three-day period as a mark of respect for those affected by the tragic incident.
The decision comes amid renewed concerns over the security of residents in parts of Taraba State, where attacks by armed groups have continued to raise fears among local communities.
By suspending campaign activities during the period, the APGA candidate is prioritising mourning, prayers and solidarity with the victims and bereaved families.
The candidate’s directive covers October 24, 25 and 26, 2026. Further campaign activities are expected to resume after the suspension period.
The attack on Binnari has once again drawn attention to the need for improved security and stronger protection for communities vulnerable to attacks by armed groups.
