Governor Seeks Canadian Partnership, Plans To Sponsor 120  Students For Master’s Degrees

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has sought stronger collaboration with the Canadian Government in education, science and technology, and renewable energy to accelerate development in the state.

Fintiri made the appeal during a visit to the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Pasquale Salvaggio, in Abuja, where both sides discussed areas of potential cooperation and mutual interest.

A major highlight of the discussions was the Adamawa State Government’s plan to sponsor 120 students to Canada for master’s degree programmes in various science-related disciplines.

The governor also explored opportunities for Canadian support for the Adamawa College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Gulak, particularly in strengthening its capacity to promote innovation, technical skills and entrepreneurship.

On renewable energy, Fintiri identified solar power as another potential area of partnership, noting the state’s abundant sunlight and the opportunities it presents for investment in clean energy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, science and technology as key drivers of innovation, job creation and sustainable development.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development.

The proposed partnership is expected to provide opportunities for international knowledge exchange, skills development and investment in Adamawa’s education and technology sectors.
