Government set to increase NYSC monthly allowance
Government set to increase NYSC monthly allowance
Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has announced plans to review and increase the ₦5,000 monthly allowance paid to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. He said the move is intended to help corps members cope with rising inflation and the increasing cost of living.

Namadi made the announcement while addressing corps members at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse. He acknowledged their contributions to community development and said the state government would follow the Federal Government’s example in improving their welfare.
The governor also announced a one-off ₦10,000 settling-in allowance for corps members to assist with expenses as they move from the orientation camp to their places of primary assignment. The payment is separate from the proposed increase in their monthly state allowance.
Namadi further pledged to renovate the orientation camp, construct a new hall and provide a standby generator to improve facilities. However, the government has announced plans for a review and increase, rather than a confirmed new monthly allowance amount.
