APC Candidate, Arobo Extends Condolences to Fasoranti Family, Describes Late Elder Statesman as an Icon

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Owo-Ose Federal Constituency, Barr. Ghani Rotimi Arobo, has described the passing of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti as the end of an era, saying his legacy remains eternal.

In a condolence statement issued on Tuesday, Arobo said the news of the peaceful transition of the revered patriarch at the age of 100 has cast a solemn yet reflective shadow across Yorubaland, Ondo State and the entire Nigerian progressive family.

Arobo noted that Pa Fasoranti, who was born on May 11, 1926 in Uso, Owo Local Government Area, was a full-fledged son of Owo-Ose soil and a true Owo-Ose man whose life elevated the name of the constituency.

According to him, Baba lived a fulfilled life and created a pathway to endless progressivism.

“His longevity was no accident. It was the natural fruit of a life marked by excellence, discipline, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to righteousness,” he said.

Arobo described the late Afenifere leader as an educationist of distinction who shaped young minds and founded institutions that continue to serve generations.

He recalled that as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under Governor Michael Adekunle Ajasin between 1979 and 1983, Pa Fasoranti helped lay the financial and developmental foundations of the state.

He said the late elder statesman’s stewardship reflected the Awolowo vision of free education, accessible healthcare, rural development and genuine care for the ordinary citizen.

Arobo further described Pa Fasoranti as a firm pro-democracy activist during the dark years of military dictatorship who risked life and liberty in the struggle to restore civilian rule.

He added that as a foremost leader of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Fasoranti became a moral compass for Yoruba interests, true federalism, social justice and good governance.

“We will sorely miss his progressive politics, his measured counsel, and the moral authority he brought to every debate. Yet we are consoled by the good works and legacies he leaves behind,” Arobo said.

The APC candidate, on behalf of the people of Owo-Ose, extended heartfelt condolences to the Fasoranti family, praying that God grants them fortitude to bear the loss.

“Baba has gone home, but his light remains. His example challenges us to live with integrity, to serve the people without self-interest, and to keep the flame of progressive politics burning bright,” he added.

Pa Fasoranti died at the age of 100, leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity and unwavering commitment to progressive ideals.
