Former Teacher, 36, Admits Sexual Abuse of 11-Year-Old Student, Faces Five Years in Jail
A former New Jersey teacher who sexually abused an 11-year-old student and later gave birth to his child when he was just 13 is now facing a prison sentence of only five years after pleading guilty.

Laura Caron, 36, worked as a fifth-grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School for more than a decade before investigators uncovered allegations that she sexually assaulted a young student between 2016 and 2020.
Authorities say Caron gave birth to the boy’s daughter in 2019, when he was just 13 years old.
The disturbing allegations surfaced in December 2024 after the victim’s father posted on social media, claiming Caron’s then-5-year-old daughter looked strikingly similar to him and his son.
Investigators subsequently launched an investigation, leading to Caron’s arrest in January 2025 on charges including aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Now, Caron has pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct as part of an agreement that includes a five-year prison sentence.
She must also surrender her teaching license, forfeit future public employment opportunities, register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and remain under lifetime parole supervision after her release.
Before sentencing, Caron will undergo a psychological evaluation that could affect the terms of her punishment.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2027.
