Flood submerges homes, roads, businesses in Port Harcourt
Flash floods have ravaged several parts of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, submerging homes, roads, estates, markets and business premises and forcing many residents to flee.

The flooding, triggered by persistent heavy rainfall, left people stranded across the city. Some residents carried mattresses, cooking utensils and other valuables to safer ground, while others with nowhere else to go sought higher spots within their compounds and waded through the water to manage daily needs.
Homes, offices, markets, hospitals and residential estates were overwhelmed by the rising waters, as were areas under flyovers. Academic activities were disrupted, with students and pupils in the worst-hit zones unable to reach their schools.
Among the hardest-hit areas were Rukpokwu, Rumuokwuta, Obiwali Road, Peter Odili Road, Eneka, SARS Road, Aba Road, Eliozu, Ozuoba and NTA Road.
In some communities, residents watched helplessly as floodwaters poured into their living rooms, destroying property and household belongings.
The floods also disrupted social events, with wedding guests left stunned at the weekend when water submerged a reception venue.
