FCT POLICE ARREST ACCLAIMED PASTOR OVER INTERSTATE CAR THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER STOLEN TOYOTA CAMRY
A pastor operating a ministry in Benue State has been arrested alongside an alleged accomplice over the theft of a Toyota Camry in Abuja, with police investigations reportedly linking him to previous vehicle theft cases.

A shocking revelation has emerged following the arrest of a pastor allegedly involved in an interstate vehicle theft syndicate operating across different parts of Nigeria.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on Friday, October 30, 2026, announced the arrest of Pastor Edwin Nwabueze and his alleged accomplice, Sadiq Jamiu, over the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of Abuja.
According to the police, Nwabueze, who hails from Oji River in Enugu State but resides in Benue State, allegedly operated under the identity of a clergyman with Salvation Power Bible Ministry, situated in the North Bank area of Benue State.
The development took a dramatic turn when police operatives, following what the Command described as sustained and expanded investigations, tracked down and arrested the cleric at his residence on October 27, 2026.
In a further breakthrough, the suspect reportedly led investigators to another location where his alleged accomplice, Jamiu, was subsequently apprehended.
More troubling revelations emerged during preliminary investigations, as the police disclosed that Nwabueze had allegedly been linked to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command over vehicle theft-related cases.
The FCT Police Command further revealed that both suspects are allegedly members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate specialising in stealing and selling vehicles across different states of the country.
The arrests are believed to be part of a wider investigation into the activities of the suspected criminal network, with detectives working to uncover the full extent of its operations and track down other members currently at large.
The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be charged before a court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
The disclosure was contained in a press statement issued on Friday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, MIPRA, who reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and protecting residents of the nation’s capital.
Members of the public were advised to report emergencies through the FCT Police Command’s dedicated telephone lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
