The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is undergoing a major political upheaval as top party leaders and a significant portion of its structure transition to the Coalition Allied Democratic Congress (ADC).

At the forefront of this movement is former gubernatorial candidate and legal luminary, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN, accompanied by influential figure Hon. Ayorinde and several other party stalwarts. The exodus is believed to include over 90% of the PDP’s operational structure in the state, spanning ward, local government, and zonal leadership.

The migration comes amid growing dissatisfaction within the party’s ranks over unresolved internal disputes and the perceived absence of effective leadership. The Coalition ADC, viewed as a rising force in the South-West, appears to have capitalized on these weaknesses to attract key PDP figures.

With this large-scale defection, the PDP’s viability in the upcoming 2025 elections is now in serious question, while the ADC gains significant momentum in what could become a redefined political contest in Ondo State.

This development marks a turning point in the state’s political dynamics and sets the stage for intense political realignment in the months ahead.
