EVEN IF DADDY ADEBOYE, BISHOP OYEDEPO, PASTOR KUMUYI OR ANY FATHER IN FAITH GETS DIVORCED, IT IS STILL WRONG – PASTOR SARAH OMAKWU.

“Even if Daddy Adeboye, Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Kumuyi, Bishop Okonkwo or any other father in the faith gets divorced, it is still wrong!”

Pastor Sarah Omakwu did not mince words.

She spoke days after Pastor Jimmy Odukoya introduced his new wife to the church.

For context, Pastor Jimmy was previously married to Oluwakemi Folashade Banjoko in London in March 2013. They have two children together. That marriage later ended in divorce.

On November 1, 2026, he introduced his new wife, Pastor Mo Odukoya, to the Fountain of Life Church congregation in Ilupeju, Lagos.

It was in this season that Pastor Sarah Omakwu shared her teaching on marriage.

According to her, divorce is not biblical.

The only ground that can make you consider divorce, she said, is cheating that involves sexual immorality.

She explained further: Even in cases where there is physical abuse, you should separate.

Separate so that both of you can work on yourselves. Separate for safety. Separate for healing.

But during that separation, if the problem is not resolved, don’t go back just to be hurt again, and don’t remarry.

Her message was clear: The standard does not change because a respected pastor did it. The Word remains the Word.

She was not attacking anyone. She was calling the church back to what the Bible says, not what culture is doing.

This is a deep conversation for the church today.

Many marriages are hurting. Many are asking, what does God really say about divorce, separation and remarriage?

Pastor Sarah’s position is:

1. Marriage is a covenant.
2. Sexual immorality is the only biblical ground she cited for considering divorce.
3. In cases of abuse, separate for safety and healing, but do not rush into divorce and remarriage.
4. The anointing of a man of God does not change the standard of the Word of God.

Whether you agree or not, she is asking us to look at the Bible again.

What do you understand the Bible to teach about divorce, separation and remarriage, and how should the church balance truth with compassion for hurting families?
