CHECK YOUR BANK ON THIS LIST OF CBN REVOKED LICENSES 

The Central Bank of Nigeria has revoked the operating licences of 46 microfinance banks with effect from July 1, 2026.

According to the CBN, the action follows the banks’ failure to meet regulatory requirements under the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act.

The affected institutions were found to have insufficient assets to meet liabilities, closed operations without approval, remained inactive, failed to commence operations within the required timeframe, or were unable to maintain minimum capital requirements.

The apex bank says the move is aimed at safeguarding the stability of the financial sector, protecting depositors, and strengthening confidence in Nigeria’s banking system.
