Bandits Abduct Lawmaker’s Brother, Kill Three Security Operatives

Suspected bandits have abducted the younger brother of a Kaduna State lawmaker and killed three operatives of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVS, in separate incidents in Kubau Local Government Area.

The incidents occurred within hours of each other, with the vigilantes coming under attack along the Zaria-Pambegua axis before the lawmaker’s brother was taken from his residence.

KADVS Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Ibrahim, confirmed the attacks in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He identified the abducted man as Sanusi, the younger brother of Shehu Pambegua, who represents Kubau Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

According to Ibrahim, the assailants invaded Sanusi’s residence around 10pm on Monday and forced him away after arriving in a Sharon vehicle.

Earlier, three KADVS personnel had been killed while carrying out a routine security operation in the area.

The deceased were identified as Dallami Dantani, the Second-in-Command of KADVS in Kubau, Abdullahi Hamisu and Zakariyya Musa.

Ibrahim said trouble began when the vigilantes attempted to stop a red Volkswagen Golf Salon during a routine check, but the driver refused to comply.

The personnel reportedly pursued the vehicle in their patrol van to establish the identity of its occupants and determine their reason for being on the road.

The occupants allegedly opened fire during the pursuit, killing Dantani.

The attackers subsequently turned back towards the KADVS office, where they reportedly shot and killed Hamisu and Musa before escaping towards Zaria.

Reacting to the deaths, KADVS Commander in Kaduna State, CP Ali Audu (rtd.), expressed condolences to the families of the three personnel, describing their deaths as a major loss to the service.

Audu praised the deceased officers for their courage and commitment to duty, assuring their families that the sacrifices of the operatives would be remembered and that the service would continue to support them.

He disclosed that security surveillance had been intensified around Pambegua and neighbouring communities as authorities work to rescue the abducted victim and identify those behind the attacks.

The commander also urged KADVS personnel to remain alert and strengthen cooperation with other security agencies, particularly in communities considered vulnerable to attacks.

He reaffirmed the service’s commitment to protecting residents and property across Kaduna State.
