Atiku’s Son Vows To Deliver Father’s State, Adamawa, To Tinubu

Hon. Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and 2027 Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to deliver Adamawa State, his father’s traditional political stronghold, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. Abba Abubakar made the declaration on Friday at the national secretariat of APC in Abuja during a media conference convened to formally unveil the vision of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO) and launch its subsidised public transportation support scheme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The HBTO Founder and Chairman, flanked by leaders of the group, addressed the political implications of supporting his father’s rival, framing his choice as an independent political decision rooted in conviction rather than personal or familial ties.
“I recognise that political decisions, particularly those that differ from the positions of individuals with whom one shares personal and family relationships, often attract considerable public attention,” Abubakar stated.
“However, political conviction is a matter of personal judgment, conscience, and the freedom of every individual to make independent choices. My decision to establish and lead the HBTO is a deliberate political choice made with a firm belief in the direction we have chosen.”
He noted that democratic governance thrives when citizens exercise their right to choose without fear or bias.
“Democracy is strengthened when individuals are free to make independent political choices, engage in constructive dialogue, and support the leadership and political platforms they believe best represent their aspirations. It is within this spirit that HBTO was established,” he explained.
Detailing the focus of his organisation, Abubakar praised the economic and social reforms instituted by President Tinubu, highlighting key social investment interventions such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), national infrastructure investments, increased statutory allocations to state governments, and transport support schemes.
To demonstrate that “political support must go beyond rhetoric to include tangible contributions,” the HBTO chairman unveiled an initial fleet of ten luxury buses to provide subsidised urban mass transit, starting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) before rolling out across other states.
“As part of our commitment to complementing the President’s reform agenda with practical interventions, the HBTO is introducing a transportation support initiative through the initial provision of ten luxury buses,” Abubakar announced.
“Every state will have five or six buses as we expand. This initiative is designed to ease transportation challenges, reduce the burden of commuting on ordinary citizens, and demonstrate practical support.”
Abubakar also disclosed plans to launch a “two-million-man v march” across the country’s six geopolitical zones, starting in Abuja.
He reaffirmed the group’s alignment with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to secure victories in the FCT and Rivers State, while confirming that HBTO structures are being activated in Rivers State ahead of a mobilisation exercise next week.
During the interactive session, when asked if HBTO possessed the capacity to capture his home state of Adamawa for the ruling party, Abubakar gave a firm affirmation.
“Yes, yes, yes. We are going to deliver Adamawa State,” he told reporters.
Rebuffing claims of antagonising his father’s political aspirations, Abubakar pointed out his long history of political organising—tracing back to the 2019 and 2023 presidential campaigns—before making the deliberate choice to join the APC.
“I’ve always supported my father since I started acting in politics, and I supported him because of what he has done for the country. But I believe that whenever a government comes out with policies that will help the people, I will join them,” he said. “It’s not just because it’s my father. I don’t think I am antagonising him; I simply believe in the current government’s policies and the reforms taking place.”
He then expressed appreciation to the APC leadership, party members, and grassroots mobilisation structures for receiving his organization as they scale up efforts for the 2027 general elections.
