Anambra Has 30 Trillion Cubic Feet Of Gas, Yet Entire South-East Excluded From Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan – Soludo Fires At FG

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has lamented the exclusion of Anambra and the entire South-East from Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan despite the state’s reported huge natural gas reserves.

Soludo stated that Anambra reportedly holds about 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, yet the state and the wider South-East have not been adequately included in the country’s gas development plans.

It is sad that Anambra is sitting on one of the biggest gas reserves in Nigeria, if not in Africa; and, yet, Nigeria’s gas master plan excluded Anambra State and the entire South-East. I don’t know if the board is aware of this, the governor said.

He called for urgent attention to the issue, stressing that developing the region’s gas resources could boost electricity generation, attract investors, create jobs and accelerate industrialisation.

Soludo maintained that Anambra’s gas resources should contribute to the state’s economic development and help realise its ambition of becoming a major industrial hub.
