Air Peace cancels Warri-Lagos flight over bird strike

Air Peace has announced the cancellation of its scheduled Warri-Lagos flight after its aircraft experienced a bird strike while landing at the Osubi airport in Delta state.

In a statement on Friday, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the airline’s spokesperson, said the aircraft was immediately subjected to safety and technical assessments by its engineering team after landing.

“Preliminary inspections revealed the need for further checks on the landing gear, necessitating the grounding of the aircraft in accordance with established aviation safety procedures,” the statement reads.

“As a result, the scheduled return service from Osubi to Lagos has been cancelled.”

The airline said it has made arrangements to support affected passengers, including the provision of hotel accommodation in Osubi while efforts are being made to complete their journeys.

Air Peace apologised for the disruption and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers.

“At Air Peace, safety remains our foremost priority,” the statement added.

“While disruptions of this nature are regrettable, every operational decision is guided by our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.”

The airline appreciated the patience, understanding, and cooperation of its passengers, noting that further updates will be communicated as necessary.
