Adeyanju Deji Reveals Secret Plot By Igbo Leaders Against Nnamdi Kanu
Human right lawyer and activist for good governance, barrister Adeyanju Deji alleges that there is an underground plot by southeast political leaders against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Barrister Adeyanju Deji made the claim through his social media handles while reacting to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing trial at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Barrister Deji who had previously stated that the Nigeria’s government has no valid reason for keeping the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra in detention, expressed optimism about Kanu’s release from detention.
According to him, he is optimistic that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu will grant pardon to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the expense of the wish of most of the Igbo political leaders who would rather prefer Nnamdi Kanu remain in custody of the Nigeria’s security forces due to his popularity as well as unmatched influence across the southeast states.
Barrister Deji also stated that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration should have discontinued Nnamdi Kanu’s trial since the outset of his presidency.
He also accuses the administration of late president Muhammadu Buhari of poor handling of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s agitation. He said president Muhammadu Buhari mishandled Kanu’s case and inadvertently turned him to a “demigod”.
Recall that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was reportedly arrested in Kenya on June 21st, 2021. The IPOB leader has since then, been in the custody of the Nigeria’s Secret Police Service while facing terrorism charges.
Prior to his arrested and detention, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through his Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), sought the restoration of the defunct Biafra nation. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through Radio Biafra, decried the marginalization of the Ndi Igbo in Nigeria. His series of broadcast on radio Biafra, focused on Igbo unity and progress.
The Abia days born message of secession resonated with the vast majority of the Igbo populace, both young and old.
